Civilian Audio - Mastering, Mixing, All Things Audio

Hello there and thanks for stopping by my site!  I guess you were looking for me, Christopher Cline, if not try this site out instead.

For those of you searching for a bit more insight, well here's a bit more about me.  I've been in the process of making records for the past 16 or so years, some good, some bad (but mostly good I hope).  I have engineered, mixed, and/or mastered a number of albums from varying genres of music.

Interested in working on a project?  Or maybe you need a little guidance navigating the music business?  Don't hesitate to reach out to me as there are a number of areas in which I might be able to help.

Recording/Mixing

Looking to record or mix your project?  Well hit me up and let me know what you're hoping to achieve.  I can work in both the analog and digital domains and can also mix (digitally) from my own suite.  If you send something my way to mix, please remember that the mix is only going to be as good as the recording and performance.  If the recording has timing and pitch issues, it's probably best to fix those before it comes to me as that eats up time real fast!  I work both inside and outside of the computer when working from my suite.  I'm more than comfortable working with tape, and I'm well versed in Pro Tools.

Mastering

Mastering is sometimes referred to as the "Dark Art" of the audio world.  Mastering is not meant to save your mix, rather enhance your mixes and give continuity to an album or set of songs.  If the mix requires saving, then it probably requires a remix.  A well-balanced mix will require little attention once it's ready for the mastering treatment.  The primary tools in mastering are going to be equalization, compression (sometimes multiband), limiting, and dithering/conversion to various sample rates and bit depths.  There are other tools that are sometimes utilized, but the aforementioned are the most common.  Click here for mastering notes!!!
